Staff members of Anderson Funeral Home, are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors.

Brian Powell, Sr.

Brian Powell, Sr.

Funeral Director

Brian has been a licensed funeral director for 42 years. He attended Southern Illinois University where he graduated with a Bachelors in Mortuary Science and Business

Brian Powell, Jr.

Funeral Director

Brian Powell, Jr. was born and raised in Hinsdale and graduated from Hinsdale Central in 2015. He studied Mortuary Science at Southern Illinois University and graduated Cum Laude in 2019. He was an avid swimmer. Brian also studied Spanish throughout college. Brian also has a dog Cash who frequents the funeral home often. 


Barry Melton

Funeral Director

A native of Malta, Illinois Barry graduated from Worsham Mortuary College. He is a member of the DeKalb Kiwanis Club, DeKalb Knights of Columbus-Andrew Mitchell #0125 and has served on the boards of the Salvation Army, DeKalb County Crime Stoppers, Barb City Manor and St. Mary Church Council.


Jill Ramey

Office Administrator

Jill resides in Cortland with her husband and children, she has been with Anderson Funeral Home since 2019.


Richard Anderson

Funeral Director

Dick Anderson is a native of DeKalb, veteran of the United States Army, Graduate of the University of Minnesota's Program of Mortuary Science, member of Kishwaukee Kiwanis, Kishwaukee Hospital 100 charter member, American Legion Post #66, NIU Huskie Club, NIU Foundation, NRA, Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation and has served on numerous business and community committees and boards.


Jim Phelps

Funeral Director

Jim Phelps was born and raised in Evergreen Park, Illinois. He graduated from Brother Rice High School in Chicago and also from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1993. He is the father of three sons and a daughter and resides with his fiancée in Oregon, Illinois. Jim was a member of the Amboy, Illinois Depot Days Car Show Committee and served as past treasurer. He has worked as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 1995 in various cities such as Dixon, Amboy, Aurora, and DeKalb. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, traveling, listening to music, attending concerts and car shows, and spending time with his family and friends.
