CAROL CARLSON Obituary

Carol Hull Carlson died peacefully on March 16, 2024, at Accent Care in Naperville.  Carol was born on January 17, 1949, in Durham, North Carolina, the daughter of Clark and Mary Hull.

Carol attended Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, and then earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education at Northern Illinois University.  She married Richard (Rick) Carlson on August 9, 1969.  She taught first and second grade for 25 years in the Elgin Public Schools, District U-46, at Washington,  Ridge Circle, and Nature Ridge Schools.  As much as she loved teaching, the highlights of her life were centered around her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother.  The family spent many happy summer days at the family cottage on Diamond Island at Diamond Lake, Michigan.  In her younger days, she was an excellent water skier, and later on was an avid kayaker.  Always a dog-lover, her little shih tzu, Emma, brought hours of joy, especially at the end. Even in her last days in Hospice care, she met everyone with her unforgettable smile and a ready compliment.  She will be greatly missed.

She was a member of Chapelstreet Church, Geneva.

Carol is survived by her husband, Rick, her son, Scott Carlson (Stephanie), of Valparaiso, Indiana, her daughter, Dana Moore (Sean), of Oswego, and four grandchildren Carson Moore (18), Ava Carlson (17), Maya Carlson (13) and Kylie Moore (11).

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stillborn son.

The Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 16, at Chapelstreet Church, South Street Campus, 2300 South St., Geneva, IL. with Pastor Brian Coffey officiating.  A family graveside dedication will be held afterwards at Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk, IL.   Arrangements are being handled by Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donation checks in her memory can be made out and sent to Salvation Army Tri-City Corps, 1710 S. 7th St., St. Charles, IL 60174.
