G. Howard Little, 89, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at his home under care of Heartland Hospice.
He was born September 20, 1934 in Carlinville, Illinois, the son of Earl and Viola Little. On April 9, 1958 he married Sandra Loveless of Palmyra, Illinois.
Howard graduated from Carlinville Unit District #1. After high school, he served in the US Army stationed in Germany. He worked in the grain industry for many years including elevator management, millwright work, erecting grain bins, grain augers, buildings and later homes.
Howard was an advocate for the communities in which he lived. He was a member of session at Waterman Presbyterian Church, served as Mayor of Village of Waterman, Waterman School Board where he served as President of Board, DeKalb County Special Education Board and fifty plus year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in DeKalb and founding board member of the Memorial Garden committee.
He is survived by his wife Sandra; his daughter Susan (Bob) Parks of Marseilles; his nephew Kevin (Jan) Bacon of Virden; his nieces Carol Dawson of Virden and Lisa (Greg) Edward of Girard; and several close cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Melba (Don) Bacon and brother and sister-in-law Donald (Dottie) Little; and his nephew Bob Little.
The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 North Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb, with Pastor Molly Morris officiating. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden with Full Military Honors by DeKalb American Legion Post 66.
